We’re excited to share that the City has approved our plan to expand services for women and children in DeKalb County.

Right now, there are no residential recovery programs in our area that allow women to stay with their children. Hearten House is committed to meeting this need.

The approved plan includes 10 new homes—five duplexes—built on our current property. These will include both one- and two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom homes will offer a next step for women who have completed our program but still need a safe place to live. The two-bedroom “baby bungalows” will support mothers with children, a critical addition since more than half of the women we serve are moms.

We’re also adding a new community building. This space will include areas for support groups, recovery meetings, and offices, which will free up space in the main house for more beds. It will also include laundry facilities and other much-needed resources.

Our nearly three-acre property, surrounded by mature trees and wildlife, offers a peaceful place to heal from trauma, addiction, and abuse. This expansion will help us continue to restore families and change lives while preserving the calm and safety of our environment.

We look forward to sharing more about this project soon and are so grateful for the support that makes it possible.
