Before I came to Hearten House, I was suicidal, broken, fearful, and angry. Due to domestic violence and emotional abuse every day I felt less than, not enough, devalued, ignored, used, and unloved.
At Hearten House I am protected, guided, loved, and taught that my voice matters. I am enough. I matter. I know God has a plan for me and I know He is able to do anything in my life because God is strong and mighty, and He is in control of every situation. I know I must include God in all my plans and pray for Him to guide me and lead me.
In my life I have been through a lot of pain and I have hurt people. I thought my sins were unforgivable. I know now that the mistakes I made are forgiven because through Christ I am made new! Hearten House has taught me that if I do not accept correction then I am not teachable. If I am not teachable then I cannot learn and grow. I have been taught integrity, accountability, and to do everything with honor. I have learned that it is not about where I have been; it is about where I am going.
Knowing that God fights for me gives me strength and hope. I am finding that since being at the Hearten House my life seems to have so much more meaning and purpose. I have a bond and a personal relationship with God. He does not turn away from me and He never will! When the enemy tries to tell me that everything my ex said about me is true and that I will always be alone, I use my Sword of the Spirit.
My God promises in Joshua 1:50 that He will never leave me or forsake me! Psalm 46 tells me the Lord is my refuge and strength!God is working on a lot of things in my life. He is teaching me to be honest even when it is hard. I am faced with a lot of challenges in my life and God has shown me if I just have integrity and stay faithful and obedient then He will guide me and fight my battles.
Isaiah 43:2 says that when I pass through the waters, He will be with me. When I go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm me. When I pass through the fire, I will not be scorched, and the flames will not set me ablaze. This to me is God telling me that no matter what I am going through in life and no matter what the battle is, just stay faithful to God and don’t give up! Have faith and know that God promises to send help and He promises to never leave me alone. He is always with me.
