The Aftercare Day Program allows Hearten House to stay actively involved in
the lives of our former residents, allowing us to serve more women.
The Hearten House Aftercare Day Program is designed to help women who have resided at Hearten House and would greatly benefit from continued involvement in the Hearten House program. The Day Program provides our alumni with the resources, structure, and accountability of the Hearten House program, while allowing them to reside in their own home.
Our women have continued support of staff who are available to help them through any problems or issues that arise. It reinforces the truth that although they no longer reside in the house, they are still part of Hearten House and the support that it provides.
Day program participants eventually are given more responsibilities, like co-facilitating recovery classes or mentoring newer residents. This strengthens their recovery and helps them to grow confident in their ability to help others who are where they once were.
The Aftercare Day Program is tailored to the needs of each participant. Each woman attends classes and meetings, Bible studies, church, events and volunteer opportunities required by the house.
The specific classes participants attend are chosen according to their needs and personal schedules. They are required to check-in, in person, at Hearten House 3-7 times per week, depending on their individual contract.
Each participant will meet with their Case Manager regularly to set goals, go over their budget, and talk over any issues or concerns. They are subject to random urine screens and breathalyzers at staff request.
Hearten House maintains regular communication with court representatives and / or DCS Caseworkers regarding participants when applicable. The duration of the program is between six and twelve months.
